The social status of woman

A girl birth did not make happy the family, especially the father. Usually, the girls were married 18 years old. If the marriage became by a matchmaker, it was the girl’s the decision if the marriage would be truth. If the girl was married a man that she was in loves with without the acceptance of their parents then she was an outcast for them.
When a woman brought in the world a son, then her husband loved her more than earlier. But, if she could not make children, she was called “goat”.
When an engagement was going to take place, the matchmaker went to bride’s house and asked from her father to agree. Her father recorded in a paper his daughter marriage portion. The matchmaker went the report to the groom. If the groom was agreed, the matchmaker went to the bride’s father, to announce his agreement. If the groom did not agree with the marriage portion, then he sent the matchmaker to his father-in-law, in order to announce him that he wanted a bigger marriage portion. If the father-in-law agreed with his groom, he wrote a new marriage portion that was also signed by two witnesses. Thereafter, the groom could visit the bride’s house.
