Anavatos is a village located in central Chios. It belongs to the municipality of Omiroupolis. Its distance from the city of Chios is 22 kilometres and from Avgonima 6 kilometres. Anavatos is built in an elevation of 500 metres. It is a part of the island full of history, art and myths. The nature and the location of the village justifies its name. The access is possible only from the northern side. From the southern and the western side exists precipice. The name Anavatos means the tall, the difficult to be accessed. Anavatos is the opposite of accessible.
